SHS Homecoming Week Gets Underway

Posted in:

It’s Homecoming time in Seminole, and this week is chockfull of activities for students— both past and present— and the community to enjoy.

For Seminole High School students, each day this week has a different “dress up” theme. Monday was “Rhyme Without Reason” day, and today’s theme is “Y2K.” Wednesday’s theme is “BBQ Dad vs. Soccer Mom,” followed by “Babies vs. Senior Citizens” on Thursday. Friday is “Green Out Day,” and students and staff are encouraged to display their Chieftain pride for the football game with Lone Grove.

SHS alumni are invited to take a tour of Seminole High School Friday at 1:30 p.m. and to stick around for the pep assembly at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium. The action then moves to the downtown district, where the parade will take place at 4 p.m., followed by the annual Soup and Stew Dinner, sponsored by the local chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA). The dinner will start at 5 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria. Homecoming festivities will get underway at 6:30 p.m. at Chieftain Stadium and kickoff is slated for 7:30.

Saturday’s schedule includes a breakfast for Seminole High School Alumni Hall of Fame members at 9 a.m. in the Mirror Room of the E.T. Dunlap Student Union at Seminole State College. Induction ceremonies for this year’s Hall of Fame class will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the high school. The weekend will culminate with the all-class reunion, which will get underway at 6:30 p.m. at the Reynolds Wellness Center.
