Seminole Sales Tax Revenue Higher For Month, Year

The July release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was also higher compared to July of last year.

The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was higher compared to last month’s, although it was lower than last year’s return.

The latest release explains the July distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from May business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from May 16th to 31st and estimated sales from June 1st to the 15th.

The disbursement of $203,937,980 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $1,214,846 from the $202,723,134 distributed to them in July last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $34,131,944. In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,647,846 sales tax disbursement and $7,228,830 in a use tax disbursement.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE has a sales tax rate of .04 percent. The city received a $646,058.72 July Sales Tax disbursement. This was $80,029.74 more than the $566,028.98 returned last month. The return was $44,189.34 more than the $601,869.38 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s July Use Tax return of $67,663.80 was $5,539.80 more than last month’s $62,124.00. It was $18,507.62 less than last year’s $86,171.42 Use Tax return.

This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $328,156.20 sales tax disbursement for July. This was $19,677.3 more than the $308,478.90 returned last month. It was $27,502.57 more than the $300,653.63 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $49,581.66 was $3,871.99 less than last month’s disbursement of $53,453.65. It was $1,457.05 less than the $51,038.71 returned (Continued from Page 1) WEWOKA of $101,498.54 was $6,166.37 less than last month’s return of $107,664.91. This disbursement was $4,527.56 more than last year’s return of $96,970.98.

The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $18,148.83. This was $6,364.66 less than last month’s return of $24,513.49. It was $490.67 less than last year’s $18,639.50 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $40,551.36 July Sales Tax disbursement. This was $12,376.72 more than the $28,174.64 returned last month, and $2,587.08 more than the $37,964.28 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for July was $19,966.23. This was $8,579.57 more than last month’s $11,386.66 disbursement. This was $7,907.95 more than the $12,058.28 returned last year.

The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,083.28 return for July. This was $895.96 more than last month’s $9,187.32 return. It was $464.22 more than last year’s $9,619.06 return.

(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $5,370.79 this month and $4,630.58 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $2,590.07. This was $5,899.81 less than the $8,489.88 returned last month. It was $2,358.47 more last year’s $231.60 return.

(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,225.21 this month and $3,107.37 last year).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,124.30 sales tax disbursement for July. This was $112.06 more than the $4,012.24 returned last month and $365.50 more than last year’s return of $3,758.80. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,169.51 disbursement for July. This was $138.63 more than last month’s $2,030.88 disbursement. It was $133.37 less than last year’s $2,302.88 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax. The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $3,113.39 disbursement for July. This was $280.54 more than the $2,832.85 June disbursement and $67.17 more than the $3,046.22 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
