Seminole Sales Tax up Over Previous Month

The April release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was lower compared to April last year.

The City of Seminole’s Use Tax was also higher compared to last month’s and also higher than last year’s return. The latest release explains the April distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from February 16th to 28th and estimated sales from March 1st to the 15th. The disbursement of $186,494,441 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $6,294,530 from the $192,788,971 distributed to them in April last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $ 34,861,912.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $30,952,544 sales tax disbursement and $6,697,319 in a use tax disbursement.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE has a sales tax rate of .04 percent. The city received a $575,956.50 April Sales Tax disbursement. This was $2.710.39 more than the $573,246.11 returned last month. The return was $37,396.20 less than the $613,352.70 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s April Use Tax return of $74,630.48 was $17,267.45 more than last month’s $57,363.03. It was $31,884.68 more than last year’s $42,745.80 Use Tax return.

This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $298,728.03 sales tax disbursement for April. This was $12,134.54 more than the $286,593.49 returned last month. It was $16,826.41 less than the $315,554.44 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $47,343.72 was $6,518.19 more than last month’s disbursement of $40,825.53. It was $4,288.54 more than the $43,055.18 returned last year.

The April sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $106,433.65 was $12,838.79 less than last month’s return of $119,272.44. This disbursement was $28,125.8 less than last year’s return of $134,559.45. This is the second report to equally compare the rise in Wewoka’s sales tax from 0.04 percent sales tax to 0.0525 in January 2024 (this month’s returns are from Feb. 2025 collections).

The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $24,037.88. This was $10,845.26 more than the March return of $13,192.62. It was $238.86 more than last year’s $23,799.02 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $33,575.42 April Sales Tax disbursement. This was $2,703.51 more than the $30,871.91 returned last month, and $1,398.09 less than the $34,973.51 return in April last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for April was $10,544.98. This was $191.83 more than last month’s $10,353.15 disbursement. This was $210.10 less than the $10,755.08 returned last year.

The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,019.46 return for April.. This was $1,551.77 less than last month’s $11,571.23 return. It was $173.02 less than last year’s $10,192.48 return.

(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $28,333.31 this month and $8,984.66 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $8,412.31. This was $6,253.8 more than the $2,158.51 March return. It was $4,707.19 more than last year’s $3,705.12 return.

(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,843.01 this month and $3,315.05 last year). The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,814.04 sales tax disbursement for April. This was $442.96 more than the $4,371.08 March return but $431.83 less than last year’s return of $5,245.87. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,294.42 disbursement for April. This was $1,140.49 less than last month’s $3,434.91 disbursement. It was $368.73 less than last year’s $2,663.15 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax. The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $2,878.07 disbursement for April. This was $556.84 less than the $3,434.91 March disbursement and $208.13 less than the $2,669.94 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
