Seminole Sales Tax Down For Month And Year
The October release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw a decrease in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was also lower compared to October last year.
The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was higher compared to last month’s. It was lower than last year’s return. The latest release explains the October distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from August business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Aug. 16 – 31 and estimated sales from Sept. 1-15. It also includes the statutory sales tax holiday reimbursements to cities and counties.
The disbursement of $201,918,672 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an decrease of $2,915,358 from the $204,834,030 distributed to them in October last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $33,859,329. In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,873,558 sales tax disbursement and $7,225,329 in a use tax disbursement.
The CITY OF SEMINOLE recently approved an increase in sales and use tax from .04 to .0412 percent that began in October. However, this report actually represents sales from August business, before the increase took effect. The city received a $586,162.05 October Sales Tax disbursement. This was $18,051.94 less than the $604,213.99 returned last month The return was $17,435.49 less than the $603,597.54 reported last year.
The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s October Use Tax return of $63,832.66 was $2,045.90 more than last month’s $61,786.76. It was $4,225.19 less than last year’s $68,057.85 Use Tax return.
This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $308,140.84 sales tax disbursement for October. This was $44,937.01 less than the $353,077.85 returned last month. It was $15,061.85 less than the $323,202.69 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $47,549.22 was $3,553.04 less than last month’s disbursement of $51,102.26. It was $1,058.25 less than the $48,607.47 returned last year. The October sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $107,688.03 was $11,507.32 more than last month’s return of $96,180.71. This disbursement was $26,190.65 less than last year’s return of $133,878.68. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.
TheCityofWewoka’sUse Tax return was $17,276.39. This was $3,806.32 less than last month’s return of $21,082.71. It was $7,423.81 less than last year’s $24,700.20 return.
The CITY OF KONAWA received a $35,346.45 October Sales Tax disbursement. This was $3,626.5more than the $31,719.95 returned last month, and $737.80 more than the $34,608.65 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.
The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for October was $10,576.52. This was 477.67 more than last month’s $10,098.85 disbursement. This was $1,398.21 less than the $11974.73 returned last year.
The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $9,418.70 return for October. This was $11,663.48 less than last month’s $21,082.18 return. It was $1,327.64 less than last year’s $10,746.34 return.
(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $8,590.16 this month and $5,476.45 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $1,013.15. This was $1,243.49 less than the $2,256.64 returned last month. It was $662.47 less than last year’s $1,675.62 return.
(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,683.03 this month and $2,911.77 last year).
The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $3,431.97 sales tax disbursement for October. This was $8,973.04 less than the $12,405.01 returned last month and 781.26 less than last year’s return of $4,213.23. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.
The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,753.45 disbursement for October. This was $338.55 more than last month’s $2,414.97 disbursement. It was $129.97 more than last year’s $2,623.48 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.
The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $3,168.01 disbursement for October. This was $45.11 more than the $3,122.90 September disbursement but $1,233.08 less than the $4,401.09 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
