OKC Corrections Center Walkaway Found in Seminole
A man who walked away from an Oklahoma City corrections center Friday morning was apprehended in Seminole late Saturday afternoon.
An advisory sent to media on Friday by Oklahoma the Department of Corrections (ODOC) stated that 39-year-old Jermaine E. Jackson, an inmate at Clara Waters Community Corrections Center in Oklahoma City had unlawfully walked away from the facility that morning.
On Saturday, ODOC sent an update to the advisory that was released on Friday, stating that Jackson had been apprehended.
“Jermaine Jackson admitted to taking a truck in Oklahoma City and driving it to Seminole. With the assistance of the Seminole Police Department, Jackson was safely apprehended at approximately 3:27 p.m. We appreciate the teamwork and partnership that made this arrest possible,” ODOC stated in the update.
Jackson was serving a 10-year sentence for possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction out of Pottawatomie County at the time of his escape.
The Clara Waters Community Corrections Center is a community treatment center that houses inmates who are transitioning out of prison. The maximum capacity of Clara Waters Community Corrections Center is 292 inmates. While incarcerated there, offenders can earn a GED and receive substance abuse treatment through a four-month program.
The transitional program offered at Clara Waters Community Corrections Center is a 100 hour program that is offered to inmates who are within 60 days of discharge, or are within 60 days of work release eligibility may participate in the program. The goals of the transitional program are to provide inmates with a foundation to obtain employment, improve their confidence in dealing with daily life, and to help inmates re-establish themselves into society.
