Local Sales Tax Revenue up For City of Seminole

The December release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this month’s revenue was also higher compared to December last year.

The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was higher compared to last month’s return. It was also higher than last year’s return. The latest release explains the December distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily reflects local tax receipts from October business activity. Companies that remit more than $2,500 in monthly sales tax are required to file and pay electronically. The funds reported for this period represent sales from October 16–31 and estimated sales from November 1 –15.

A total of $203,398,649 in sales tax collections was disbursed to cities and towns, representing a decrease of $7,231,736 from the $210,630,385 distributed in December of last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns totaled $56,433,502. For counties, the disbursement included $36,438,582 in sales tax collections and $10,854,610 in use tax collections.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE recently approved an increase in sales and use tax from .04 to .0412 percent that began in October. This is the first report to completely include this increase, although half of last month’s report included an estimate of the first half of October. The city received a $620,938.44 December Sales Tax disbursement. This was $3,264.66 more than the $617,673.78 returned last month The return was $24,360.03 less than the $645,298.47 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s December Use Tax return of $110,201.18 was $54,151.39 more than last month’s $56,049.79. It was $36,412.89 more than last year’s $73,788.29 Use Tax return.

This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $350,012.38 sales tax disbursement for December. This was $4,069.93 more than the $345,942.45 returned last month. It was $54,808.93 more than the $295,203.45 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $79,559.09 was $33,298.18 more than last month’s disbursement of $46,260.91. It was $26,065.61 more than the $53,493.48 returned last year.

The December sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $110,229.68 was $24,215.64 more than last month’s return of $86,014.04. This disbursement was $19,093.96 more than last year’s return of $91,135.72. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.

The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $30,426.61. This was $11,123.87 more than last month’s return of $19,302.74. It was $8,731.59 more than last year’s $21,695.02 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $45,334.31 December Sales Tax disbursement. This was $9,681.66 more than the $35,652.65 returned last month, and $17,498.01 more than the $27,836.30 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for December was $15,830.10. This was $9,950.52 more than last month’s $5,879.58 disbursement. This was $5,283.21 more than the $10,546.89 returned last year.

The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $9,231.46 return for December. This was $2,378.96 less than last month’s $11,610.42 return. It was $791.89 less than last year’s $10,023.35 return.

(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $4,933.64 this month and $4,692.52 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $1,570.76. This was $627.35 more than the $943.41 returned last month. It was $413.49 less than last year’s $1,984.25 return.

(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $4,204.97 this month and $23,924.77 last year).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $3,760.46 sales tax disbursement for December. This was $810.43 less than the $4,570.89 returned last month but $640.35 more than last year’s return of $3,120.11. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,141.10 disbursement for December. This was $823.93 less than last month’s $2,965.03 disbursement. It was $1,607.8 less than last year’s $3,748.90 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.

The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $2,566.73 disbursement for December. This was $307.86 less than the $2,874.59 November disbursement but $491.67 more than the $2,075.06 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
