Local Nonprofit Receives ‘Sharing Success’ Grant

Investing in Community
Posted in:

A local nonprofit was one of three organizations to receive a grant through Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative’s (CVEC) Sharing Success program.

May May’s Homes, Gateway to Prevention and Graham- Dustin Public Schools were awarded a total of $15,000 in grants from CVEC in partnership with its lending partner, CoBank.

Seminole resident Terry Howard founded May May’s homes, which provides reunification homes for parents and foster children as well as tiny homes for adolescents aging out of foster care. The organization is a non-profit community partner of CarePortal, a technology platform that shares the needs of local children in DHS custody and foster families with local churches and community partners, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond and meet those needs. The organization also operates a thrift store in the former Clausing’s Supply location in Seminole. Follow May May’s Homes on Facebook for more information.

While CVEC is recognized for delivering reliable electric service, the cooperative is equally committed to investing in the communities it serves.

“These grants reflect that commitment by supporting organizations that play vital roles in public safety, education, and community well-being,” CVEC officials said in a news release.

The Sharing Success program was launched by CoBank in 2012 to enhance the impact of co-ops and the non-profits they aid. By matching CVEC’s charitable contributions, the program strengthens local communities.
