Juvenile Arrested Over String of Shootings
A juvenile has been arrested in relation to a recent string of non-injury shootings in the Seminole area.
The arrest came after officers from multiple area law enforcement agencies served search warrants on two residences in the 200 block of Jefferson Street late Tuesday afternoon. The entire block was essentially shutdown as vehicles from the Seminole Police Department, Seminole County Sheriff’s Department, Seminole Nation Lighthorse and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) blocked traffic. The street was filled with officers and onlookers as the event unfolded.
Seminole Police Chief Jon Withers said the case was still under investigation as of press time Wednesday, adding that additional arrests are possible. The juvenile’s name has not been released, but if they are charged as an adult their name generally becomes public record.
While it is unknown if the incident was related to Tuesday’s arrest, a drive-by shooting occurred at the Hillcrest Apartments in April. Daegan Angel was arrested May 20 and charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling and use of vehicle in the discharge of a weapon. Angel is due back in court Aug. 7 for a status hearing.
Earlier this month, the Seminole Police Department released its June activity report, which included 1,114 service calls, 11 accidents, 346 traffic stops, 207 citations, eight mental health calls and 74 disturbances.
