Herriman Steps Down As Konawa Councilman

Posted in:

Mayor Dave Herriman has submitted his resignation to the Konawa City Council.

In a letter to the Council dated Feb. 19, cited personal and professional reasons for stepping down.

“After much thought and reflection, I have decided to resign from my position on the Konawa City Council, effective immediately,” Herriman wrote.

“I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and truly feel that I have done my best to represent our community with integrity, dedication and heart. Serving the people of Konawa has been an honor and I remain grateful for the trust placed in me,” he continued.

“At this time, I have a great deal on my plate, both personally and professionally. In order to lighten my load and ensure that I can give proper attention to my responsibilities, I believe is it in the best interest of both myself and the community to step away from my council job,’ Herriman concluded.

According to Herriman, the Council will appoint someone to fill the vacancy created by his resignation.

“I encourage someone that lives in the city limits to step out your comfort zone and fill that position,” Herriman said in a social media post. “Now is the perfect time for you to be the change you want to see. The council will appoint someone to fill my seat and then that person will run in the next election to be voted in by the people. It’s been a great honor serving on the Council!”
