HASNOK Breaks Ground on Housing Addition
The Housing Authority of the Seminole Nation hosted groundbreaking ceremonies last week for a new housing addition featuring 22 single-family homes.
According to a news release from the Nation, the ceremony was held Wednesday, Aug. 13 on the “Semvnolvlke Liketv” housing addition, located at 35565 EW 1190 Rd. in Seminole.
Board members, Seminole Nation Council members were in attendance along with Chief Lewis J. Johnson, Assistant Chief Brian T. Palmer, Chief-elect Sena Yesslith and Assistant Chief-elect Sheila Harjo.
Executive Director of the Housing Authority, Chelsea Fish, opened the ceremony by welcoming those in attendance. Lisa Cobb, Chairwoman of the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority, shared a few words along with the General Contractor of the project, Andy Jordan, of Black Gold Solutions.
Chief Lewis Johnson commended those who were vital in making the project happen.
“This project stands as another powerful example of the continued progress made by the Housing Authority. They are not only building homes, they are creating spaces where families will build their futures. I extend my sincere gratitude to all who played a role in bringing this project to life, and I commend each one for their dedication to giving hope to the families who will soon call these houses home,” Johnson said. “The expansion of housing and other tribal initiatives throughout the Seminole Nation over the past decade and beyond will serve as a benchmark for future leaders; one they will strive to match, and perhaps even surpass.”
