Good Mental, Physical Health Topic of Chamber Forum

Tips on how to achieve good mental and physical health in 2026 will be the topic of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce monthly forum meeting on Thursday, Feb. 12. The luncheon meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Haney Center at Seminole State College.

A panel of local medical and educational experts will present information and answer questions from the audience. Speaking about physical health will be Dr. Jenna Geohagan and Nurse Practitioner Tessa Tate and discussing good mental health will be SSC professor Christal Knowles.

Dr. Geohagan is a lifelong Seminole resident who has built her life and career around serving her hometown community. A proud Seminole Public Schools valedictorian, she went on to graduate summa cum laude from Oklahoma Baptist University before earning her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 2015. She then served as chief resident at the Integris Baptist Great Plains Family Medicine Residency program.

She became the first physician in Oklahoma to complete the AAFP Leading Physician Wellness program.

Dr. Geohagan returned home to Seminole to practice medicine alongside her mother Tricia Butner in 2018. She and her husband Tyler have three daughters.

She currently serves as Board Chair for Impact Seminole, a local nonprofit dedicated to community well-being and educational excellence.

Tessa Tate, NP-C is a nurse practitioner and health coach.

She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Seminole State College and completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees through South University of Savannah, Georgia.

She was certified in functional nutrition in 2023, which developed a passion for utilizing “food as medicine.”

Tate currently works at the Seminole campus of SSM Health Clinic. She is a member of the Seminole County Board of Health.

She and her husband Tyler Tate have two young sons.

Christal M. Knowles, MS is a tenured Professor of Psychology at Seminole State College, where she has taught since 2009. She holds a Master of Science in Behavioral Sciences and brings a background in both higher education and public social services to her work with students and the .

In addition to teaching, Knowles serves as Coordinator of the SSC Help Center, faculty sponsor for the Psi Beta Psychology honor society, serves on several campus committees, and is a member of the Faculty Senate. She is actively involved in her community, including being a lifelong member of Girl Scouts and co-leading a multi-level troop in Shawnee, as well as being involved in her church. She is also a member of the American Psychological Association.

She and her husband, Dr. Bill Knowles, have two adult children, Caleb and Olivia.

The forum meeting of local civic clubs is open to the public. Cost for the meal is $15 per person.
