American Legion Post 204 is flying a special flag the month of July in honor of a fallen Marine from Seminole County.

This month’s flag, which flies in Veterans Park north of the Seminole Municipal Building, honors Ronnie Dean Davis of Wewoka, who passed away in October of 2021.

Davis was born Sept. 24, 1949 in Wewoka to the late Norvel Davis and Patsy (Degge) Davis. He served four years as a Marine and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Marksman. The local American Legion post honors a different deceased veteran each month, part of a national effort to bring awareness to local fallen service members.
