Fire Guts Auto Detail Business On Boren Blvd.

A local business that specialized in auto detailing and custom audio systems was destroyed in a mid-morning fire.

City Quake Accessories, located at 510 Boren Boulevard in Seminole, went up in flames at around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.

John Simpkins, owner of City Quake, said the building was a total loss.

“It looks like the building will have to come down. It’s all lost.” Simpkins said. “But everyone got out and nobody was hurt, so we’re thankful for that. We’re all doing fine.”

According to the Seminole County tax rolls, the property is owned by Gary and Stacy Dudgeon of Seminole. The building once housed a DX Service Station and has two service bays. According to the company’s social media page, City Quake also offered mechanic services.

Although multiple cars were parked on the lot, only one, a classic Oldsmobile Simpkins was working on, was inside the building at the time of the blaze. The car was destroyed, according to Simpkins.

The Seminole Fire Department sent at least two of its trucks to the scene and law enforcement blocked the south end of Boren to through traffic until the blaze was contained. Thick, black plumes of smoke were visible virtually all over the Seminole area as the fire raged.

The cause of the blaze had not been determined as of press time Thursday afternoon.
