CVEC’s Operation Round up Foundation Awards $16,000 in Scholarships to Students
Staff Report Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) has recognized the recipients of the inaugural Operation Round Up Scholarship Program, administered by the Operation Round Up Foundation Board. Through this member-supported program, $16,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 16 outstanding high school seniors from across the CVEC service territory.
The Operation Round Up Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for qualified individuals who seek a college, university, or technical school education. The scholarship is available to an entering college freshman or trade school student who is a member or is a spouse, dependent of a member, or child whose guardian is a member of the Cooperative and a participant in Operation Round Up. Applicants must be high school seniors attending a school located within the Cooperative’s service area.
Operation Round Up is an innovative program that provides financial assistance to worthwhile projects in Canadian Valley Electric’s service area. The organization is funded by participating Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative members who volunteer to have their monthly electric bill rounded up to the nearest dollar. With the help of these generous participants, Operation Round Up disperses funds for community projects, health care, educational scholarships, and other meaningful efforts.
“This program reflects the heart of the cooperative spirit — neighbors helping neighbors,” said Dian Dawson, President, Operation Round Up, CVEC. “We’re proud to support these bright students as they pursue their future goals and represent the communities we serve.”
Each student received a $1,000 scholarship to assist with their continuing education. The 2025 Operation Round Up Scholarship recipients are:
