City Looks to Automate Water Meter Reading

The City of Seminole is looking to modernize its waterworks with the installation of an automated meter reading system.

A proposed resolution to allow the Seminole Municipal Authority to sell promissory notes totaling $1.95 million to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board appears on the Authority’s Jan. 13 meeting agenda. The Municipal Authority is comprised of Seminole City Council members, which will also meet Tuesday.

The resolution states, in part, that “Trustees of the Seminole Municipal Authority have determined to issue its promissory notes in the principal amount of not to exceed $1,950,000 to finance the acquisition, equipping and installation of an automated meter reader system for the water system owned by the City of Seminole, Oklahoma and leased to the Authority.” It also states that $1,950,000 of indebtedness shall include an $800,000 forgivable loan to the Board.

Other Municipal Authority agenda items include: - Consideration and possible action to approve Crossland Heavy Contractors Invoice #16 and draw funds in the amount of $983,076.59 for work completed at the Seminole Wastewater Treatment Plant.

- Consideration and possible action to approve Wall Engineering Invoices #24 and #25 and draw funds in the amounts of $24,341.80 and $28,169.00, respectively, for work completed at the Seminole Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The city council meeting will be held immediately after the Municipal Authority adjourns. Its meeting agenda includes: - Consideration and possible action to approve Resolution No. 2026-01, a Resolution declaring the eligibility of the City of Seminole to submit an application to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for use of Transportation Alternatives Program funds in the amount of $770,955.33 to construct a sidewalk and crosswalk connecting the sports complex, high school, family entertainment center and Seminole State College.

- Consideration and possible action to approve the June 30, 2025, audited financial statements as submitted in November 2025 and presented by Bob Dillan of Dillon & Associates, PC, at the December 2025 city council meeting.

- Consideration and possible action to approve a JAG grant in the amount of $9,917.06 for the purchase of four (4) ultra-rugged 4” mobile direct thermal printers, twelve (12) Propper 3 in 1 parka and five (5) Bravo Concealable Carrier-Revolution w/ Black Plate Pockets, at no cost to the City.

- Consideration and possible action to approve the Lease Agreement for use of the property and facilities commonly known as the Brian Crawford Sports Complex with the Seminole State College Educational Foundation (SSCEF) for the amount of $16,000 covering the period March 30, 2026, though June 30, 2026.

Tuesday’s meetings will get underway at 7 p.m. in the Goldie Barnett Conference Room of the Seminole Public Library. All meetings of the city council and its related authorities are open to the public.
