Butner Calls $440K Bond Election For Tues., April 1
Patrons of the Butner Public School District in Seminole County will soon decide on a $440,000 bond proposal to fund school renovations, transportation and other needs.
In December, the district called a special election for Tuesday, April 1 with the following proposal: “Shall Independent School District Number 15 of Seminole County, Oklahoma, incur an indebtedness by issuing its bonds in the sum of Four Hundred Forty Thousand Dollars ($440,000) to be issued in one or more series to provide funds for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings, acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment and acquiring and improving school sites, and levy and collect an annual tax, in addition to all other taxes, upon all the taxable property in such District sufficient to pay the interest on such bonds as it falls due and also to constitute a sinking fund for the payment of the principal thereof when due, said bonds to bear interest not to exceed the rate of ten (10%) percentum per annum, payable semi-annually and to become due serially within ten (10) years from their date?”
If approved, $240,000 will be used to renovate, repair, and/or remodel district-wide, to include, but not be limited to: awnings, window treatments, fencing, repair water well, plumbing, exterior improvements and HVAC. The balance of the funds will be utilized as follows: $120,000 to acquire school owned vehicles, $70,000 for maintenance equipment and $10,000 to acquire an automated external defibrillator.
In addition to the Butner School proposition, several other elections will be held across Seminole County on April 1. Those contests are summarized below.
City of Maud Councilmember Ward No. 2: Norman Springer, Jr. and Bobby G. Shatto. Councilmember, Ward No. 4: Bryan Bull and L e e W. Davis.
Maud Public Schools Board Member - Office No. 5: Bobbi Michelle Watson and DeCarla Wallgren.
Gordon Cooper Tech Center Board - Office No. 5 (unexpired term): Casey Wayne Bell and Dennis Morris.
Justice Public School Board Member - Office No. 3: Darius L. James and Curtis Lee Douglas.
Varnum Public Schools Board Member - Office No. 5: Amy Porter and Nicole Barnette.
