Budget Talks on Council Agenda
The Seminole City Council will consider adopting the budget for FY 2025-26 when it convenes for its regular monthly meeting tonight, June 10.
This year’s budget of $15.6 million is slightly lower than the current budget of roughly $15.7. According to figures provided by the city, the beginning general fund balance should be about $2 million when the new fiscal year begins July 1.
Also on the agenda is a presentation regarding safer alternatives to mosquito spraying by Miranda Cotton, and a presentation and discussion by city staff regarding the mosquito spraying program utilized by the city for pest control.
Current business items include contract renewal for fiscal year 2025-26 with New Age Project, inc., for use of the Heritage House and acceptance of EPA Grant No. 02F65001 for $4,351,281 for a new water tower.
Medical Authority agenda item: Consideration and possible action to approve a deed of conveyance of a certain tract of real property to HCL Investments, LLC, as previously approved by the City Council. The Authority will receive a larger tract of real property adjacent to its facility on John Street as consideration for the transaction.
Utilities Authority: Consideration and possible action to approve the low bids of $371,778 from Matthews Trenching for earth work and $337,000 from PCC for concrete for the Family Entertainment Center construction project, as recommended by project manager Miller Tippens and City staff.

Tonight’s meetings will get underway at 7 o’clock in the Goldie Barnett Conference Room of the Seminole Public Library. All meetings of the City Council and its related authorities are open to the public.
