FAN SIDED - When Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer went down with a broken hand late in their win over Auburn, most assumed he’d be sidelined for weeks. Surgery followed, and expectations were tempered: many believed a return in the month ahead was optimistic.

The next edition of Friday night lights in Seminole will see the Chieftains host the Perkins-Tryon Demons on October 10th. After the OSSAA ruling of an ineligible player participating against Bristow last week, that 28-24 Chieftain won has since been forfeited.

Seminole State hosted the Redlands Community College Lady Cougars Sunday afternoon for some good soccer action. The SSC soccer team are undefeated at home and are on a 7-game winning streak.

The Bowlegs Bison hosted the Graham-Dustin Chieftains Friday night for their homecoming game. Bowlegs selected Gracie Taylor as their Queen and Camden Morgan as their King. The Bison came out firing in the first quarter with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Colby Smith from Cylas Mack.

The Seminole Chieftains had to forfeit the Bristow football game and are now 4 and 1 on the season.

The Maud Tigers hosted the Sasakwa Vikings for a Thursday night football game. Things didn’t go the Tigers way as the Vikings controlled the game and won on the road. The first quarter was a slug-fest as both teams went back and forth on offense.

NORMAN (AP) — Oklahoma backup Michael Hawkins Jr. passed for three touchdowns and ran for another, and the fifth-ranked Sooners rolled past Kent State 44-0 on Saturday. Hawkins led the Sooners (5-0) to points on their first five possessions.
