TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2025 DEAR ABBY: We asked our 19-year-old college daughter, “Lulu,” to dogsit and housesit sit several months ago. She knew our rule of no visitors allowed in our home while we were out of town.

SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2025 DEAR ABBY: I have a full-time job and am in pretty good health. I have one son, “Brian,” who is married and has three children. My problem is that my son is often rude to me. I was a single mom who raised him on my own. I thought I was a pretty good mother.

In a women’s Bible study, I wanted to know more than what we were discussing about Sarah and Abraham and the time they lived, so I began to research. What I found out from HALLEY’S BIBLE HANDBOOK was some facts I’d never heard in the 50-plus years of being a Christian.

It was like buzzards circling the body. The Jones kid, Randy, was out in the Mule Barn coffee shop parking lot with the hood up on his car. He was staring down into it the way a first-time parachutist would look out the airplane door. You never quite knew for sure what lay ahead.

Having integrity. “Doing what you should do, even when no one is watching, and will never know if you did it or not.” It’s not something that is inexpensive and easily obtained for yourself – like a bottle of water. Indeed it is just the opposite, you have to concentrate and work hard at it.

DEAR ABBY: My dear friend, “Sandra,” is married with two children. She and her husband have a 4-year-old son together and another son from her husband’s first marriage who is 14. The 14-year-old’s life is tough, much like Cinderella’s. Sandra treats him very badly.

THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025 DEAR ABBY: My father’s wife, “Carole,” loves to thriftshop. She enjoys hunting for a good deal, particularly if she can find things for our 5-year-old daughter, “Liana.” It’s sweet how excited she gets when she brings over a pile of new clothes.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 14, 2025 DEAR ABBY: Years ago, I purchased your recipe booklet which had a very good recipe for gazpacho (no oil in the recipe). I no longer have that booklet. Could you print the gazpacho recipe? Also, is the booklet still available?

Over the past week, the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy (OICA) has not only been busy with promoting youth-related policies at the state and federal capitols, but we have also led two important programs under our mission.

TUESDAY, MAY 13, 2025 DEAR ABBY: My husband and I have been married 33 years, but the last 10 years have been extremely difficult. His attitude and selfishness during that time led me to strongly resent him.
