SUNDAY, JULY 20, 2025 DEAR ABBY: When my daughter, “Trish,” and her husband separated, I reached out to each of them for occasional checkins. Trish left him after confessing to infidelity via email.

Genius is occasionally driven by desperation, and that’s what happened to Annette down at the Soup ‘R Market. The phone lines were fuzzy that day, she thinks, because of an electrical storm. That’s the only reason she can think of that she was stuck with 800 pounds of squash.

We all watched as the flag came by. It was the first thing in the parade, of course. Great big one, carried by two of the kids from the ROTC at the high school.

The very thing that you dread and fear can keep you keep thinking about it. A lot, in fact. And that constant thinking can give way to obsessive anxiety. And then the obsessive anxiety and fear begin to take control of your days… and causing sleepless nights.
