The Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) announced last Thursday that they have approved $1,450,913 in funding for the Wewoka Public Works Authority to be used to improve the Authority’s wastewater infrastructure. The first request of $450,913 will be funded through the Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant (OSG) program, the announcement stated. The second request for $1,000,000 will be financed by the Oklahoma American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant program, it added.

The Dec. 5 issue of Holdenville News reported Hughes County Commissioners expect to reopen the Hughes County Jail within 90 days. The jail has been shut down due to health and life safety issues and the inmates are currently being housed in Seminole County.
