Representatives of the Democratic Party of Oklahoma will be in Seminole on Monday to discuss their plan to have State Rep. Danny Williams, who is up for reelection, removed from the November ballot.

New Seminole State College Regent David Hooten took the oath of office during the SSC Board of Regents meeting on Aug. 20, officially beginning his service on the College’s governing board. Seminole City Attorney and Oklahoma Army National Guard Brigadier General Brad Carter administered the oath.

Wewoka First Baptist Church Women on Mission traveled to Avonlea Cottage in Seminole to hold a monthly Bible devotion with the residents. Linda Evans opened with prayer. The lesson centered around the theme of “Fan the Fire of Faith” with several Bible verses being read.

Dr. Sara Doolittle will present an author talk and book signing at the Oklahoma Territorial Museum and Carnegie Library on Wednesday, September 2, starting at 6 p.m. Doolittle’s new book, “We Fought Back: The Black Legal Struggle for Education in Oklahoma Territory,” was released in August.

The New Lima FFA chapter in Seminole County has been awarded $5,000 as part of the Grants for Growing program.
