The International Diabetes Federation reports that roughly 10.5 percent of the adult population across the globe has diabetes. Given that prevalence, it stands to reason that millions more individuals are aware of the risk factors for the disease, particularly type 2 diabetes. The IDF notes more than 90 percent of people diagnosed with diabetes have type 2 diabetes, which can be attributable to lifestyle factors like poor diet, lack of physical activity and overweight or obesity.
Read moreThe Oklahoma Employment Security Commission’s (OESC) monthly employment report, released Wednesday, October 2, shows that Seminole County had the third highest rate of unemployment in the state. This was an improvement compared to the previous report, which showed Seminole County tied with Haskell County for the second highest rate of unemployment in the state. In the report for August, McIntosh County posted Oklahoma’s highest county unemployment rate of 5.8 percent. Haskell County remained at the second-highest rate for the month. Dewey County reported the lowest county unemployment rate of 1.8 percent in August The October release contains the preliminary statistics for August 2024.
