I saw the cops yesterday. When you see a cop in uniform at Wal-Mart, your curiosity arises. See several, and you start looking for the exits. Something is going on. But then I saw the kids. They looked to be Middle School aged, hanging close to the cops. Then I understood. I called out to one of the cops and said “Hey. I know what you’re doing, and I appreciate you for it.” We exchanged smiles and he and his cop buddies went about their happy business, taking at-risk kids shopping for Christmas. I’ve worked with some of those kids over the years. Some of them have never ever received a Christmas present, or a birthday gift or anything.
