Read moreThis weekend, the CNN documentary series Shades of America will be highlighting Oklahoma farmers in their Sunday, July 26 episode. George, Milford, and Alvin Roberts, who are some of the last black farmers who still own and operate the ranch earned by their family through the Emancipation Proclamation, will be featured in the episode. Their farm, Circle “R” Ranch, is located in Seminole County. In a press release sent by the brothers’ niece Dr. Tammy Grey-Steele, she calls the Roberts, “the last few of the backbones of the black farm heritage.”
