The Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, also known as URLTA, was created in 1972 by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws in the United States and was intended to make the law more relevant to rentals in an urban setting. Oklahoma adopted most of the uniform law in 1978, with only a few changes since.
