The Supreme Court recently announced they have agreed to review whether the State of Oklahoma has the authority to prosecute non-Indians who commit crimes against Indians in Indian Country. The Court notably turned down over thirty requests to reverse the McGirt v. Oklahoma decision made in July 2020 affirming the Mus cogee Nation’s Reservation boundaries. The Court later adding the reservations of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Seminole and Quapaw tribes as well.
