The Seminole County Board of Commissioners wasted little time in extending the county-wide burn ban during their Tuesday meeting. The burn ban was originally implemented on September 26 for a two-week period. The ban will now remain in effect until October 24. There were 19 Oklahoma counties on the list when the Seminole County Commissioners originally declared a ban September 26. The list has since grown to 46 out of 77 counties. Oklahoma currently ranks 4th in the nation for acres burned.
