The Native Spotlight series returns to Circle Cinema with a free screening on Saturday November 12, 2:00pm. Award-winning filmmaker Loren Waters will be in attendance with her new short film “Restoring Néške’emāne” followed by a Q&A and feature documentary “Dawnland.” The films and discussion focus on the environmental and cultural damage done by the removal of Indigenous children from their families to boarding schools through the 1980s. Learn about environmental efforts to reclaim the school grounds and honor the lives of those forced to attend the school by hearing stories of community healing. Admission is free with first-come, first-served tickets.
