The Seminole Arts Council members assembled Wednesday evening at Seminole Junior College for a reorganizational meeting and officer election in view of the upcoming season. Upon the resignation of Mr. David Boren as chairman, the new officers elected were: Mrs. W.L. Wantland, chairman; Mrs. John B. Townes, vice chairman; Mrs. Waldo Lilly, treasurer; and Mrs. Bob Robertson, secretary. Two new members welcomed were Tricia Colclazier and Mrs. Jvon Bell.

Read moreThe Board of Seminole County Commissioners voted to approve a donation from the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma to the Seminole County Sheriff’s office. Sheriff Shannon Smith stated the check was for $57,919.50 and will be used to help build a new communication tower on the south end of the county to improve communications between emergency services such as fire departments, police departments and the Sheriff’s department. Smith estimated the cost of the tower be around $80,000. The tower will be over 200 feet, and it will be the third tower in the county.
