Law Day Approaches; Lawyers to Offer Free Advice

Hundreds of attorneys across Oklahoma will provide free legal advice on Thursday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the annual statewide Law Day celebration. Oklahoma residents may call 405-4294290 or 918-340-5297 to speak to a licensed attorney at no cost.

SPD Officer Unscathed in Two Vehicle Crash Monday

A Seminole Police officer was uninjured in a two-vehicle collision east of Seminole late Tuesday morning. According to Police Chief Jon Withers, Officer Myron Fixico was driving his police cruiser on Highway 9 near St. Crispin’s when he was sideswiped by a truck carrying an oversize load.

Irby Resigns as Assistant DA

A longtime prosecutor for the Seminole County District Attorney’s Office has resigned in what some are calling a “shakeup.” Assistant District Attorney Candice Irby resigned her position effective Monday, April 21.

Fugitive Captured After Anonymous Tip

An anonymous tip led to the capture of a fugitive by the Wewoka Police Department early Tuesday morning. According to police, 31-year-old Sam Houston Gaines, who was wanted by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) for parole violations, was taken into custody April 22.
