Dollar General has announced that its store at 1900 N Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole has reopened following a lengthy closure due to flood damage. To celebrate, the company plans to host a grand opening event this Saturday, Nov. 1, at 8 a.m.

The City of Seminole has shifted some code enforcement duties from city hall to the police department. During the Oct. 14 Seminole City Council meeting, City Manager Steve Saxon made a presentation on the change and a vision for the future of the department.

The “Hey Seminole” entertainment center on Highway 9 is beginning to take shape with the erection of steel beams. The center is financed via the extension of a one-cent sales tax and the redirection of tourism dollars, approved by voters in 2023.

The Seminole Municipal Authority received approval for $650,265 in funding on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) for recent improvements to the Authority’s water and wastewater infrastructure.

The Annual Sorghum Festival returns to Wewoka this Saturday, Oct. 25, for a 50th run. Senator Grant Green, whose district includes Seminole County, is encouraging all Oklahoma residents to attend the free, one-day event.
