Eva Dotson
Eva Lucille “Lucy” Dotson (Bounds), affectionately known as “Ms. Thompson,” passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. Born on August 12, 1942, in Vamoosa, Oklahoma, Lucy dedicated her life to her family and her passion for education.
A distinguished scholar, Lucy graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class in Vamoosa. She pursued higher education at East Central University in Ada, earning a Master’s Degree in Education of Mathematics. Her academic achievements led to an extraordinary career with the Anadarko Public School System, where she served for over three decades. As the district’s first female administrator, Lucy broke barriers and made lasting contributions through initiatives such as Aware and GED testing programs. Even after retirement, she continued to teach and administer GED tests, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to education.
Lucy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughters Dawn Renee Thompson (husband Jerame Rosa) and Deede Thompson of Oklahoma City. Her beloved grandchildren— Alex Morales of Oklahoma City; Randee Sloan (husband Clint Sloan) of Morrison; Rudee Beard of Oklahoma City—and great-grandchildren— Katie Corriveau of Anadarko; Cameron Tucker (husband Weston Tucker) of Alva; Chassidy Morales of Morrison; Cheyenne Beard and Iohla Beard of Kansas; Caden Sloan, Cassadee Sloan, and Cooper Sloan Dotson of Morrison; Allison Morales of Phoenix— brought immense happiness to her life. She also leaves behind one greatgreat- grandson Rifton Tucker of Alva.
Lucy shared close bonds with her sisters Mary Minor of Virginia; Carolyn Hughes of Arkansas; Brenda Campbell of Oklahoma; Rhonda Bounds of Kansas; and Wanda Bryce of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Dotson; parents Tom and Barbara Anna Bounds; seven brothers Leonard, Clifford, Jackie, Jerry, Glendale, Richard, and Jimmy Bounds; one sister Phyllis Ward; two grandsons Sabastian Thompson and Chauncy Beard; and son-in-law Eldon (Qweets) Beard.
Lucy found joy in cooking and gardening, creating cherished memories with her grandchildren through these shared activities. Her legacy is defined by love, resilience, and an enduring dedication to education. Eva Lucille “Lucy” Dotson will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
