WEWOKA- Mrs. Lois Montgomery, whose husband was killed in a bizarre 1971 shooting incident, testified against District Attorney Roy Powell Tuesday and told a Seminole County Grand Jury she had received a threatening phone call prior to testifying.

“A man’s voice was on the phone and he asked me if I was familiar with the Roy Powell case in Wewoka,” Mrs. Montgomery, who lives near Holdenville, told The Producer.

“I told him that I wasn’t too familiar with it,” she added. “The caller then told me that he would advise me not to get too interested in it and then he hung up.” Mrs. Montgomery, who traveled to the courthouse here alone Tuesday to tell her story to the grand jury, said the call “did not stop me.” The Holdenville woman said she is not afraid. “They can’t kill me because I’m already dead,” she said. “I died when my husband was killed.”
