The Varnum Whippets competed in the Mulhall-Orlando Basketball Tournament this past weekend. Both the Whippets and Lady Whippets made it to the Championship game but fell short of their wins.

The Lady Whippets took on the Coyle Lady Blue Jackets in their first round and dominated the game 62-30. Next, the Lady Whippets faced the Dover Lady Longhorns in their second round and controlled the game and won 53-27 to move on to the championship game.

The Varnum Lady Whippets faced the Union City Lady Tigers for the Championship Saturday. The game was a close matchup as both teams battled it out, but the Lady Whippets fell short and lost the battle 40-50.

The Varnum Lady Whippets won the Mulhall-Orlando Runner up Championship and are currently ranked #5 in Class B1 with a record of 11-3.

The Varnum Whippets started their tournament off by facing the Mulhall-Orlando Panthers. Varnum took care of business and rolled in with the win 48-30. The Whippets faced the Union City Tigers in their next round. The game was a tough matchup, but the Whippets overcame the Tigers and won 62-51.

The Varnum Whippets moved on to face the #1 in Class B2 Dover Longhorns for the Championship.

The Whippets battled to the end but could not overcome their deficit when they fell behind. Dover won 55-37.

The Varnum Whippets are the Runner up Champions of the Mulhall-Orlando Tournament and are currently ranked #5 in Class B1 with a record of 13-1.

Next up for the Whippets is a home game on the 16th against Moss.

The game is set to start at 6:30 p.m.
