Varnum Lady Whippets Win Last Home Game of Season

The Varnum Whippets hosted the Weleetka Lady Outlaws Monday night and overpowered Weleetka in a 4-1 victory.

The Lady Outlaws went to bat first but went three and out at the top of the first. The Lady Whippets jumped on board with Karsyn Lowery scoring on a ground ball and Cori Vigil scored on an error.

The defense of Varnum held the Lady Outlaws scoreless in the second inning and continued with their offensive pressure. Liv Lena scored on a sacrifice to put the Lady Whippets 3 to 0 at the bottom of the second.

The Lady Outlaws got on the score board with a single run in the third. Varnum answered right back when Cori Vigil scored again on a fly ball.

The next three innings were a display of good defensive playing from both teams. Neither team scored the final three innings.

The Varnum Lady Whippets won the game 4-1.

Pitching for Varnum was Kapri Rodriguez who pitched seven innings allowing one run, striking out fifteen and walking three.

The Lady Whippets are 13-7 and ranked #14 this season. The Weleetka game was the last home game for the Lady Whippets until playoffs.

The next game for Varnum is the Konawa Tournament the 18th through the 20th and then at Sasakwa on the 22nd.
