A Varnum Lady Whippet traveled to Orlando, Florida July 24-27 and won the National Championship in basketball.

Lakota Tilley is from Varnum and is a seventh grader. Tilley is a member of the Sunset Park basketball team where they beat the HG Hoopz 31-15 and Philly Legacy 49-7 in the pool play. The team moved on in the bracket to face Run and Shoots and won 42-36. The Sunset Park moved on to the semi-finals to face the Castle Athletics and won 66-45.

The Sunset Park team faced the Team Attack for the championship and won 50-48 in overtime.

The Sunset Park are the 2025 Puma NXTPro National Champions.
