The Varnum Basketball boys and girls’ teams traveled to Del City Saturday to compete in the 2025 Skordle Shootout II.

There were twelve high schools that participated in the event including Varnum.

In the boys’ games, the Whippets faced all 2A teams while the Lady Whippets faced off against two 2A and one 3A school.

The Lady Whippets started their day at 10 a.m. and faced 2A Cashion. The game was a very close game as Cashion squeezed out the victory 24-23.

The Lady Whippets scrimmaged against 3A Millwood and lost 29-7. Next was 2A dibble and the Lady Whippets won the match 36-25.

The Varnum Whippets boys started their day at 10:40 a.m. against 2A Cashion and fell 39-42. The next team, Varnum, scrimmaged was 2A Hennessey and won 49-30. The final game for the Whippets was 2A Hinton. The Whippets defeated Hinton 45-32.
