SSC Women’s Soccer Advances to National Tournament

The Seminole State College women’s soccer team captured the NJCAA Central Plains District title at the Advance Soccer Complex in Enid, earning a berth in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer National Championship tournament.

SSC opened the district tournament with an 11-0 victory over Murray State College on Friday, Oct. 31, and clinched the championship with a 4-0 win against Rose State College on Saturday, Nov. 1.

On Friday, Seminole State posted their first shutout of the weekend over Murray State. The game just got underway when Molly-Kate Lundy scored the first goal for SSC and was assisted by Ashlyn Vargas.

SSC’s Claire Navarro scored the second goal around the five-minute mark. Gracie Lee (assisted by Bella Mattingly) scored the third, Fredricka Finnikin scored the fourth and was assisted by Katelyn Magee, Reeve Ross scored the fifth and was assisted by Mattingly and Kamora Haralson scored the sixth goal before the half and was assisted by Kayla Pelter.

The Murray State College Lady Aggies had no answer as they were down 0-6 at the break.

Seminole State continued with their pressure and dominated the second half.

Mary Awuah and Bella Mattingly scored unassisted goals in the half while the duo of Katelyn Magee and Fredricka Finnikin scored two goals.

At the 64:40 mark, Rebekah Nolen scored the final goal, who was assisted by Alex Wilhite to win by a shutout victory 11-0.

SSC goalie was Bry Russell.

The SSC Lady Trojans advanced the face the Rose State Lady Raiders Saturday. The game was another shutout victory.

This game was more of a defensive game on both sides.

SSC”s Kamora Haralson got the Lady Trojans on the board first and was assisted by Molly-Kate Lundy.

Lundy got in on the action and scored the next goal who was assisted by Haralson.

Seminole State had a 2-0 lead at the break.

Gracie Lee added the third score for SSC and was assisted by Zoe Trenchard.

The Lady Raiders could not get things going on offense throughout the game.

Seminole State’s Leslie Razo sealed the win with the final goal of the game to make 4-0. Razo was assisted by Molly-Kate Lundy on the final goal.

Bry Russell was the goalie for the game and played for 90 minutes with 2 saves.

SSC advances to the national championship, set for Nov. 16-22 at the Advance Soccer Complex in Enid.

Head coach Dan Hill has now guided SSC to its seventh consecutive national tournament appearance.

The Trojans enter nationals with a 15-1-2 record. SSC has been prolific in front of the goal, scoring 78 total goals (4.88 per match), allowing just 0.78 goals per match, and riding a 12-match winning streak into the postseason.
