SSC Lady Belles Win at Home Over Mid America Monday Night
Seminole State Lady Belles had their second basketball game of the season at home Monday night against Mid America Christian University. The Lady Belles did not disappoint with a 105-47 landslide victory.
The Lady Belles came out firing and took the early lead with a 27-10 in the first. Lady Belle Haddie Lindley scored two three-point shots to total 10 in the quarter. Teammate Anjewl Murillo scored 7 in the frame.
The MACU Lady Evangels settled down and fired back on offense in the second quarter to close the gap some.
The Lady Belles didn’t panic and went back to work on offense with Alona Cooper hitting two treys and 11 points from the field.
Tylyn Thurman and former Varnum Lady Whippet Hailey Mack knocked down a three-point shot also to help SSC to go up 56-24 at the half.
Seminole State continued with their momentum from the first half and applied the offensive pressure and put up another 29 points in the quarter.
Lady Belle Doniya Hall hit 8 points from the field and Cooper scored 7 in the frame.
The defense of Seminole State dominated in the final frame and held the Lady Evangels to just 10 points scored.
The Lady Belles rolled on to win the quarter and the game with Mack scoring 7 points, two from the field and was 3 of 4 from the foul line. Seminole State won 105-47.
Leading the way for the Belles was Alona Cooper- Rochovitz who scored 23 points, two three-point shots, two rebounds and was 1 of 1 from the free throw line.
Aija Carter had 14 points, five rebounds and was four of four from the line.
Anjewl Murillo and Haddie Lindley each scored 12 points in the game.
The Seminole State Lady Belles are now on a two-game winning streak.
Next up for the Belles is an away game on the 7th at Crowder College.
The next home game is on the 22nd against Dallas College Cedar Valley.
The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
