SSC Hosts Western Oklahoma State Monday Night
Seminole State hosted the Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers Monday night for their second home game of the new year.
The SSC Belles put up a good fight but fell short in the second half. The SSC Trojans battled throughout the game and pulled out the win at home.
The Lady Belles started the evening off and were evenly matched with the visiting Lady Pioneers. Seminole State’s Haddie Lindley and Nazhoni Sleeper each knocked down a trey to help the Belles score 14 in the frame. The Lady Pioneers also scored 14 points in the quarter to tie the game.
The battle continued in the second quarter with several Lady Belles scoring from the field to keep the game close. The Lady Pioneers edged out SSC in the frame with a 20-17 run before the half.
The Belles were facing a 3-point deficit heading into the third quarter.
SSC’s Alona Cooper scored 11 points in the third to try and keep the game close, but Lady Pioneers drained a couple of threes to extend their lead.
Seminole State was fired up heading into the final frame. Lindley and Cooper found their threepoint range in the fourth and closed the gap, but time was running out for the Belles and the Lady Pioneers came away with the win 76-65. Leading the way for the Belles was Alona Cooper with 22 points, three treys and was one of one from the free throw line.
Haddie Lindley had 17 points, three treys and was two of two from the line.
Aija Carter had 10 points and was two of two from the line.
The Seminole State Trojans took to the court next to face the Western OK State Pioneers.
The game was a shootout in the first half with the Pioneers scoring 36 points and Seminole State’s Christian Cummings knocking down two treys inside of 10 points in the frame to help the Trojans edge out the Pioneers 38-36.
The game turned into a tug-of-war with the lead in the second half.
The Trojans made their shots count in the frame with Dylan Golightly scoring 17 points and Joseph Hunter scoring 9 points to help put the game away with a final score of 80-73.
Leading the way for the Trojans was Dylan Golightly with 22 points, four treys and was two of two from the free throw line.
Christian Cummings and Joseph Hunter had 12 points each on the evening.
Next up for Seminole State is a home game on the 22nd against Northern Oklahoma College – Enid.
The home game will start at 5:30 p.m. with the Lady Belles taking the court first and the Trojans taking the court at 7:30 p.m.
