Seminole State Wins Series Over Rose State College

The Seminole State Trojans hosted the Rose State Raiders Saturday in a baseball double header and swept the 3-game series.

On Thursday the 26th, the Trojans traveled to Midwest City for the first game of the series at Rose State College. Seminole State dominated the game with Jackson Lundquist hitting two homeruns and driving in five runs to help SSC win 13-3.

The next two games of the series were played in Seminole on Saturday with the Trojans riding on a 4-game winning streak and the outcome for the Raiders was not any better.

The Raiders went to bat first to start the day. Neither team could light up the scoreboard in the first inning.

After two outs at the top of the second for the Raiders, a Rose State player hit a grand slam to score four runs for the Raiders.

The Trojans answered right back in a huge way with 12 runs. Bennett Crafton and Tagen Simon scored on a fly ball, Jaylon Humbles and Brayden Harpole scored on a line drive, Dylan Restine and Jackson Lundquist scored on a line drive, Cohl McCoy scored on a wild pitch, WT Jones scored on a walk, Hutch Russell and Simon scored on a line drive, and Harpole and Humbles scored on a line drive, The Raiders struggled in the third and went three and out. The Trojans added another run to their lead with Jones scoring on a fly ball.

Rose State added a single run to their score with another homerun at the top of the fourth but could not regain their momentum.

Seminole State put the game away at the bottom of the fourth with a homerun of their own by Lundquist who knocked in runner Restine.

The Raiders went three and out at the top of the fifth and the game was called.

SSC won the second game 15-5.

Pitching for Seminole State was Matt Hudspeth who pitched five innings, allowing five runs, one walk and striking out seven.

In the final game of the series, the Raiders once again went to bat first and went three and out. Seminole State wasted no time getting on the board. Cohl McCoy knocked a homerun on the first pitch, Hutch Russell hits a homerun of his own, Crafton scored on a line drive and Carter Sterling scored on a line drive.

Rose State lit up the scoreboard in the second with a single run, but the Trojans extended their lead at the bottom of the inning with Ray Kuhlman scoring on a line drive, Jones scored on a line drive and Crafton scored on a line drive.

The Raiders had no answer in the third inning. McCoy scored on a line drive for the Trojans at the bottom of the third.

Rose State tried to close the gap in the fourth with two runs scored but couldn’t get any closer.

Bennett Crafton hit a home run at the bottom of the inning to help keep SSC in the lead.

Rose State lost their momentum and went three and out in the fifth. The Trojans took advantage and put the game away with Campbell Martin and Hector Rocha scoring a line drive, Ray Kuhlman scoring on a fly ball and Jones scoring on a line drive, Neither team scored in the sixth inning and the Raiders made one more attempt to get on the board at the top of the seventh but went three and out.

The Seminole State Trojans won the series and the game with a final score of 13-3.

Pitching for Seminole State was Ryder Taylor who pitched five innings, allowing three runs, walking two and striking out seven.

Nate Quuickstad pitched two innings, allowing zero runs, one walk and striking out three.

Next up for Seminole State is another series with Dallas Forth Worth Post.

The first game is an away game on the 2nd of April. The next two games of the series will be played at Seminole on the 4th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
