Seminole State Softball Wins Double Header Over Rose State

The Seminole State Lady Trojans hosted the Rose State Lady Raiders Saturday afternoon in a double header event.

In the first game, the Lady Raiders went to bat first. The SSC Lady Trojans held Rose State scoreless in the inning. Seminole State took the lead when Kaitlyn Simpson scored on a line out at the bottom of the inning.

Rose State struggled on offense through the first three innings. SSC could not capitalize on their lead and went scoreless in the second and third innings.

Rose State tied things up at the top of the fourth with a single run.

The Lady Trojans went to work on offense and took the lead again when Madi Doty and Kaylee Sallee scored on an error, Kenna Maker scored on a fly ball, Simpson and Camryn Westbrook scored on a line drive, Sallee hit a homerun and knocked in runner Ava Yocham.

The Lady Raiders tried to close the gap in the fourth with three more runs scored. Seminole State’s Westbrook added another run at the bottom of the inning to keep the Lady Trojans ahead.

The Lady Raiders were down by six runs at the top of the sixth but only added one run to their score. Kaylee Sallee of Seminole State put the game out of reach at the bottom of the inning with a homerun.

Rose State had one more inning to try and close the gap but went scoreless at the top of the seventh.

The game was over. Seminole State won 11-5.

Pitching for Seminole State was Brittani Murray who pitched four innings, allowing three runs, one walk and striking out five.

Juliana Linares pitched three innings, allowing two runs, zero walks and striking out one.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Trojans posted a shutout over the Lady Raiders.

Rose State started the game off at bat but went scoreless. Seminole State also struggled on offense through the first two innings.

Seminole State took the lead at the bottom of the third with a home run by Kaitlyn Simpson.

The Lady Raiders had no answer for Seminole State.

SSC went back to work on offense in the fourth with Madi Doty scored on a throw, Kenna Maker scored on a ground ball and Mckenzie Cothran scored on a ground ball.

The Lady Trojans put the game away at the bottom of the fifth with Kaylee Sallee and Jordyn Moody both hitting a home run in the inning.

The game was called in the seventh with Seminole State dominating the game 6-0.

Pitching for Seminole State was Maliyah Carney who pitched seven innings, allowing zero runs, two walks and striking out three.

Next for the Lady Trojans is a home game today against Grayson College at 2 p.m.
