Seminole State Baseball Wins Series Against Northeastern Oklahoma
The Seminole State Trojan baseball team are 19-6 on the season so far and had a time this past weekend facing Northeastern Oklahoma AM college.
SSC had three games scheduled against NEO, starting on Friday and playing a double-header on Saturday.
The Friday game didn’t go like the Trojans would have wanted but after being tied 2 to 2 in the 10th inning, NEO scored 2 runs in the 11th to win 4 to 2.
The first game of the double-header on Saturday went better than Friday’s game.
NEO jumped out in the first inning and took a 2-1 lead. SSC shut NEO out in the second and scored a tying run at the bottom of the second.
Seminole State took the lead in the third with a single run but the visiting team fired back at the top of the fourth with three runs scored.
SSC was down by two runs heading into the fifth inning. NEO added to their lead with two runs scored at the top of the inning. The Trojans rallied back with three runs scored to close the gap.
The defense of Seminole State stepped up in the sixth and seventh inning and held NEO scoreless. SSC was down by one run in the sixth but the Trojans knocked in two runs to win the game 8-7 after seven innings.
Leading for SSC was Hutch Russell with 2 runs and 3 RBIs. WT jones with 2 runs and two RBIs and Cohl McCoy with two runs.
Pitching for SSC was Matt Hudspeth who pitched four innings, allowing 5 runs, 2 walks and striking out six.
Ethan Rich and Jaxon Ramos each pitched an inning and both pitchers struck out two players each.
In the double-header game, Seminole State dominated the game from the start.
Northeastern went to bat first and went three and out at the top of the first. Th4 Trojans went to work and batted in five runs to take a huge lead. NEO had no answer for the first three innings and went scoreless. Seminole State knocked in two runs in the second and third inning to go up 9-0 at the bottom of the third.
NEO found some daylight and lit up the scoreboard with three runs scored in the fourth inning, but the Trojans answered right back with three runs of their own scored in the inning.
Northeastern struggled again on offense as the defense of Seminole State held them scoreless for two more innings. SSC took advantage and scored a single run in the fifth and three more runs in the sixth.
NEO had one more inning to try and rally back from a 13-point deficit. Northeastern only managed one run in the frame and the game was called. Seminole State won the series 2-1 with a final score of 16-4.
Leading for SSC in the game was Hutch Russell with two runs and three RBIs, Cohl McCoy, Eli McCall and Dylan Restine each scored two runs and two RBIs.
Pitching for SSC was Ryder Taylor who pitched four innings, allowing three runs, four walks and striking out three.
Austin May pitched two innings, allowing one run zero walks and striking out three.
Next up for the Trojans is an away game and two home games against Connor State College. Thursday is the away game at Connor State and on Saturday, Connor State travels to Seminole for a double-header against Seminole State.
The first game is set to start at 1 p.m. and the second game is set for 3:30 p.m.
