Seminole Chieftains Win at North Rock Creek

The Seminole Chieftains played their first round of the Consolation bracket Thursday night.

The Lady Chieftains faced Central Tulsa and the Chieftains boys faced Mannford.

The Lady Chieftains started the evening off and took control of the game in the first quarter. Daisy Wood scored four points from the field and Etta Berry shot three of four from the free throw line to help Seminole go on a 13-0 run.

Central Tulsa Lady Braves struggled on offense in the first half as the Lady Chieftains held them scoreless again in the second quarter.

The offense of Seminole stepped up their attack and dominated the quarter as Cadence Ladd scored 12 points and Ryeley Stanfill scored five from the field to go into the half with a score of 32 to 0. The Lady Braves finally lit up the scoreboard in the third with three points scored but the Lady Chieftains stuck to their game plan and continued to attack the board.

The Lady Braves were down by 49 points heading into the final quarter. The defense of Seminole continued to hold Tulsa to minimal points as the offense put the game away with nine points scored in the frame to win 60-6 over Central Tulsa.

Leading the way for the Lady Chieftains was Cadence Ladd with 23 points and was three of five from the free throw line.

Daisy Wood and Etta Berry each scored 7 points each on the evening.

The Chieftains boys took on the Mannford Pirates next.

The game was a tough battle in the first as both teams trading licks, but the Chieftains took the lead with Kenneth Johnson knocking down two treys and Ben Schatzel hitting a three-point shot of his own.

Seminole was plagued with fouls from the Pirates, but the Chieftains used it to their advantage and shot five of five from the line to help extend their lead.

The Pirates were down by six points heading into the third. The Pirates found some momentum and tried to close the gap, but the Chieftains continued with game plan and still had the lead at the end of the frame.

The Pirates continued with their momentum and closed the gap more and tried to pull an upset, but time ran out on Mannford as the Chieftains defeated the Mannford Pirates with a final score of 56-54.

Leading the way for the Chieftains was Chris Brager with 25 points and was four of four from the free throw line.

J’Darren Ladd scored 15 points, one trey and was four of four from the line.
