Seminole Chieftains Travel to Heritage Hall For Their First Round of Playoffs Friday
After clinching a spot in the postseason last week with a 42-14 win over Victory Christian, the Seminole Chieftains will look to upset #1 seed Heritage Hall in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. The Chieftains finished the regular season 7-3 overall, 4-3 in district play, and ranked 13th in class 3A (provided by MaxPreps) on their way to securing the 4th seed out of district 3A-2 over Mannford and Bristow.
The Heritage Hall Chargers have had a successful year, finishing the 2025 regular season with a 9-1 record and a 7-0 mark in their district. Blowout wins over the likes of Pauls Valley (43-2), Anadarko (52-14), and North Rock Creek (48-12) have helped the Chargers obtain a ranking of #3 in 3A (provided by MaxPreps). Their lone loss came all the way back on September 5th when they travelled to Lincoln Christian, falling 6-35.
Last season, these two squads also met in the first round of the playoffs, with Heritage Hall emerging victorious by a 43-20 score. Five Seminole turnovers proved to be the difference as the Chargers scored 21 points off them to pull away in the second half, ending the Chieftains’ 2024 campaign.
After defeating Seminole in the first round, Heritage Hall would advance to the semi-finals before falling to eventual state champion Lincoln Christian, 32-21. In fact, the Chargers have only lost three games dating back to the beginning of the 2024 season, and all three have come to Lincoln.
The two foes who will meet on the gridiron this Friday have only played three total times, with Heritage Hall holding a 2-1 series lead. All three of these matchups have come in the postseason and and all three have been decided by 20 points or more. The Chieftains’ lone win came in the first round of the 2013 playoffs by a score of 52-27.
Here is what Head Coach Mike Snyder had to say ahead of his team’s first-round battle. “We can’t get rid of those guys. They are a very good football team. I think they are ranked third. But hey, we will go give it another shot.” This postseason matchup also represents an opportunity for Coach Snyder to secure his 400th career win, something no high school head coach in Oklahoma has accomplished.
Snyder will look to make history, keep his squad’s season alive, and upset #1 seed Heritage Hall when he and the #4 seed Chieftains take the field on Friday, November 14th. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM for this Class 3A playoff showdown.
Other postseason action from around the county includes home playoff games for Maud (VS Bluejacket), Konawa (VS SW Covenant), and Sasakwa (VS South Coffeyville), while the away games are Wewoka (AT Fairland), Bowlegs (AT Medford), and Strother (AT Seiling). All game times are set for 7:00PM.
