Seminole Chieftains Take on Stroud at Home Friday Night

The Seminole Chieftains welcomed the Stroud Tigers Friday night after many schools and games were canceled due to the snow storm the week prior.

The Lady Chieftains started the evening off and went back and forth with the Lady Tigers in the first. Ryeley Stanfill knocked down a three-point shot and scored three from the field to help Seminole keep a close game.

The Lady Chieftains were down by three heading into the second quarter. Stroud stepped up their game and scored 19 points while the defense shut down the Lady Chieftains offense to take a big lead heading into the half.

The Lady Chieftains were down by 18 points and continued to struggle in the third. The Lady Tigers added to their lead with 14 points scored in the quarter.

Seminole Lady Chieftains had one more quarter to catch up and Daisy Wood and Jaxie Satawake each knocked down a three-point shot to excite the home crowd, but it wasn’t enough to catch Stroud before the end of regulation.

Stroud won 55-34.

Leading the way for Seminole was Ryeley Stanfield who scored 11 points, two treys and was three of four from the free throw line.

Daisy Wood scored 10 points, one trey and was one of two from the line.

Next up was the Seminole Chieftains and the Tigers.

Stroud entered the game fresh off a win over Meeker at the 66-basketball conference and was looking for a road win as the Tigers displayed their three-point shooting ability in the first and took the early lead. Stroud hit five treys in the first frame.

The Chieftains were down by ten points heading into the second.

The Chieftains fired back with some three-point shooting of their own and the defense held the Tigers to just seven points scored.

The Chieftains were down by two at the break.

Seminole found their three-point shooting range in the third and only trailed the Tigers by one at the end of the third.

The Chieftains shut down the Tigers offense in the final frame and only allowed 5 points scored as the Chieftain offense turned up the heat and dominated the quarter with 23 points scored.

The Seminole Chieftains protected their home court with a final score of 63-46 over Stroud.

Leading the way for the Seminoles was Jay Ladd with 15 points and was 11 of 17 from the line.

Donavin Garfield scored 14 points and was four of six from the line.

Kenneth Johnson scored 13 points and one trey.

Next up for the Chieftains is a home game this Friday against Wewoka. This game will be homecoming for the Chieftains.

The game is set to start at 6 p.m. with the Lady Chieftains taking to the court first, followed by the Chieftains.
