Seminole Chieftains Fall at Home Thursday Night to Tecumseh
The Seminole Chieftains hosted the Tecumseh Savages for their last home game of the regular season Thursday night.
In between games the Chieftains honored their basketball, cheer, band and pom seniors.
The Lady Chieftains and the Lady Savages hit the court first to start the evening. Tecumseh took the early lead in the game with a 13-7 run. Lady Chieftain Jaxie Satawake scored five points in the frame.
The Lady Savages continued to roll in the second and held the Lady Chieftains to just four points scored.
Seminole was down by 16 points coming out of the break.
The Lady Chieftains could not find their momentum in the third, but Ava Yarbrough hit a three-point shot to fire up the home crowd.
The Lady Chieftains were still fighting an uphill battle heading into the fourth and made a rally with some shooting from threepoint range by Yarbrough and Caedance Ladd with two but could not tally up enough points to catch Tecumseh before the end of regulation. Tecumseh won 45-27.
Leading the way for the Lady Chieftains was Caedance Ladd with 9 points, two treys and was one of three from the free throw line.
Jaxie Satawake scored 7 points and one trey.
Next up was the Chieftains and the Tecumseh Savages.
Both teams took turns lighting up the scoreboard in the first, the Savages just edged out the Chieftains by one point to take the early lead.
The Chieftains stepped on the gas in the second with Ben Schatzel hitting a three and Chris Brager scoring 8 points from the field to help Seminole take the lead before the half.
The Tecumseh Savages were down by one point heading into the third quarter.
Tecumseh applied more offensive pressure in the quarter and out scored the Chieftains. Seminole’s Jay Ladd scored 7 points and Schatzel found his threepoint range again in the frame, but the Chieftains were down by three at the end of the third.
Seminole started the fourth quarter slow but made a rally mid-quarter and tried to close the gap. The Chieftains were down by two with a little over a minute left to play but the Savages made their shots count in the final seconds and pulled out the win with a final score of 53-49.
Leading for the Chieftains was Chris Brager with 20 points and was two for two from the free throw line.
Jay Ladd scored 14 points, one trey and was one for one from the free throw line.
The Chieftains head to Districts next at North Rock Creek on the 21st.
