Sasakwa Vikings Win on the Road at Maud Tuesday
The Maud Tigers took on the Vikings of Sasakwa Tuesday night for their third home game of the new year.
The Vikings proved to be too much as Sasakwa won both games as the visitors.
The Maud Lady Tigers started the evening off and battled hard in the first but fell just six points behind at the end of the frame. Lady Tiger Aubri Kueneman had two three-point shots in the quarter to keep the close.
The Lady Vikings applied some offensive pressure in the second with several players finding their three-point range. Kay Kay Wheeler, Brenlee Underwood and Lacee Thomas each hitting a trey.
The Lady Tigers were down by 21 points heading into the third quarter.
The defense of Sasakwa stepped up in the third and held the Lady Tigers to 8 points scored as the offense continued with their offensive momentum and went on a 22-8 run.
The final quarter was a low scoring affair as both teams eased up and let the clock run.
The visiting Sasakwa Lady Vikings won 73-35.
Leading for Maud was Aubri Kueneman with 12 points, three treys and was one of six from the free throw line.
Natalie Brown had 12 points and was two of four from the line.
Leading for Sasakwa was Kay Kay Wheeler, Jayla Underwood and Lacee Thomas each scoring 16 points each.
The Maud Tiger boys hit the court next.
The Vikings took control of the game in the first quarter with Boston Lowe hitting two treys and Nate Reed and Titus Harper-Collins hitting a three-point themselves.
The Tigers were down 14 points heading into the second quarter. The quarter was plagued by penalty calls by the referee which resulted in an over abundance of free throws from both teams. Thirteen free throws were shot in the frame.
Sasakwa still had the lead heading into the third quarter. The Viking offense pressed on the gas again and went on a 30-13 run in the quarter to extend their lead. Viking Josh Jones knocked down three treys in the frame.
The Vikings let off the gas in the fourth as the Tigers rallied late but could not catch the Vikings.
The Sasakwa Vikings won the game with a final score of 92-67.
Leading for the Tigers was Trent Marshall with 19 points, one trey and was three of nine from the free throw line.
Colt Abbott had 14 points, two treys and was four of six from the line.
Leading for the Vikings was Josh Jones with 17 points, three treys and four of four from the free throw line.
Darius Henderson had 15 points and was one of two from the line.
Next up for Maud is a home game on the 26th against Stonewall.
