Sasakwa Vikings Win District Championship Thursday Night

The Sasakwa Vikings moved their game against Graham-Dustin from Friday night to Thursday night due to incoming weather for Friday.

The Vikings shut out the Graham-Dustin Riverhawks Thursday for their third shutout of the season. Sasakwa is undefeated at home with a 4-0 record.

“I feel like we’re blessed”, stated Head Coach Corky Snodgrass. “We have a very special group of guys this year.”

Graham-Dustin recently changed their name to the Riverhawks and their school colors.

Graham-Dustin won the toss and elected to receive the ball. The Riverhawks fumbled the ball around their 20-yard line, and the ball was recovered by Joseph Lunn of the Vikings.

On the first play on offense, the Vikings scored a touchdown with a pass from Thad Harjo to Lunn. The Vikings tried a field goal for the first time this year and converted the field goal.

The Riverhawks went 4 and out and turned the ball over to Sasakwa.

Quarterback Harjo threw his second touchdown pass to Dariane Loya. The Vikings tried their second attempt at a field goal but was a little short.

On the first play on offense for the Riverhawks, Sasakwa linebacker Titus Collins hit the quarterback, who dropped the ball and Viking guard Bryor Bible scooped up the ball and ran it in for the touchdown. The field goal was good.

The Vikings had a 20-0 lead at the halfway mark of the first quarter.

On the Riverhawks fourth downplay, the QB threw a pass but was intercepted by Ayden Livesay who ran it back for the touchdown. Titus Collins converted the two-point conversion.

The Riverhawks went four and out again on their next offensive possession. The Vikings QB Harjo kept the ball on their first play and ran it in for the touchdown. Titus Collins converted the two-point conversion.

On the first play of offense for Graham-Dustin, the QB fumbled the ball and defensive end Karl White of Sasakwa ran it back for the touchdown. Jo Jo Lunn scored the two-point conversion.

The Sasakwa Vikings had a huge 44-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Graham-Dustin could not handle the defensive pressure of the Vikings throughout the evening and went another four and out.

Sasakwa went back on offense at the top of the second and in two plays, QB Harjo found Loya in the endzone for a 22-yard touchdown play. Austin Watters converted the twopoint conversion.

Graham-Dustin fumbled again on their offensive possession and was recovered by Bryer Farmer of Sasakwa. The first play on offense for Sasakwa, QB Harjo dropped the ball but picked it right back up and ran it in for the touchdown. Karl White scored the twopoint conversion with 3 minutes left in the second quarter.

On the kickoff to the Riverhawks, the ball touched a Graham-Dustin player, and the ball was recovered by Jo Jo Lunn.

The Vikings just kneeled the ball on their plays to run out the clock.

The Sasakwa Vikings won the game and are District Champions for the first time in Sasakwa history with a final score of 60-0.

“Last night, this group of young men made school history by winning the first ever district title for Sasakwa Football,” stated Coach Snodgrass. It was a nice game; it ended at halftime once again. The defense has been solid the last few weeks. Congratulations fellas, let’s keep this train rolling.”

The Vikings will be on the road for their next game on the 30th of October at Fox.

Sasakwa’s last game will be a home game against Paoli on the 7th of November. This game will be the Vikings Senior Night.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
